Bratislava orders 30 ForCity Plus trams
SLOVAKIA: Bratislava transport authority DPB has excercised an option for Škoda Transportation to supply a further 30 ForCity Plus trams and provide 15 years of maintenance support.
The order covers 15 bi-directional Type 30T trams for delivery in late 2015 at a cost of €39·3m, and 15 unidirectional Type 29T trams for delivery by the end of 2016 at a cost of €36·75m.
The five-section low-floor air-conditioned trams will have a maximum speed of 65 km/h and a total capacity of 242 passengers. They will be fitted with a new passenger information system, CCTV and a boarding ramp for use by passengers with reduced mobility.
This latest firm order follows two placed last year, meaning that Škoda Transportation is to supply a total of 60 ForCity Plus trams to Bratislava in 2014-16 at a cost of €153·3m, of which 85% will be met by the EU´s Cohesion Fund.
